In 2007

·        2.0 million people (adults and children) globally died of AIDS

·        2.7 million adults and children were newly infected with HIV.

·        More than 25 million people have died of AIDS since 1981.

·        In Malaysia, more than 1000 people died of AIDS in 2007

·          4000 new HIV infections are reported  and

·        28% of those newly infected are youths aged 13-29.

Acknowledging the critical state of these numbers and the lives they affect, AIESEC Malaysia and Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia are running an HIV/AIDS initiative aimed to raise awareness of the issue amongst youths in Malaysia. This year, this initiative is focused on universities and colleges and/or youth organisations around the country. Based on AIESEC's International Exchange Program, exchange participants are brought in from various countries for a period of 2 months to conduct these awareness programs.
